DA 6th Grade Visit to YMCA Camp Kirkwood

All 6th graders of DA (that were able to) went to YMCA Camp Kirkwood in Watha, North Carolina. Even though it was unwise to go because of a tropical storm (in my opinion), we lucked out because it seemed that the tropical storm subsided the 2nd and 3rd days we were there, although the first day we arrived there was a massive downpour of rain, causing the lake near all the buildings to rise warily, engulfing some benches an literally sitting at the feet of the numerous cabins. But the in general experience, excluding the storm, was so-so. The scenery was beautiful and the wildlife was very abundant (I wished we hiked more!) The food was good, but it wasn’t the best. The cabins were small and the beds close together, causing very unsanitary conditions due to the mix up of personal belongings. Other miscellaneous activities provided by camp Kirkwood was a V-swing, a zip line,  canoeing , kanga jump, a swimming pool, and lastly, we played with an adorable pot-bellied big, bubbles. All the activities were very fun.
